Please arrive 10-15 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment time on your first visit. Upon your arrival, I will ask you to fill out a client intake form including a brief medical history. If you are on any medications it is helpful to bring a list with you. I will sit down with you to review the intake form and discuss your goals of the session, propose a treatment plan, and answer any questions you may have.
Clothing options – Most massage sessions are performed with the client completely undressed, however I respect your decision to undress to your comfort level and will accommodate your needs. You will be properly draped with a sheet and blanket at all times, and only the area being worked on will be exposed. I do offer treatment options where you can remain completely clothed such as hand, foot, scalp, and facial massage as well as Reiki Energy healing.
During the Massage – I strive to provide a relaxing and therapeutic experience during your massage. The massage table is padded and heated, which can be adjusted to your preference. There is usually soft music and dim lighting to enhance the relaxing atmosphere. An additional blanket or pillows are available at your request. Please feel free to communicate about anything that is uncomfortable: such as too much pressure, pain, cold room, table heater too warm, etc. Do not feel obligated to carry on a conversation while getting a massage – you are free to talk or not.
After your massage – At the end of the session, I will leave the room. Get up slowly and get dressed. Once you are dressed, there will be time to discuss your session and address any further questions you may have. Ideally it is best to relax the rest of the day to allow your body to assimilate the bodywork. It is important to drink plenty of water following a massage.
Some people may be a little sore after their massage, especially if you had deep tissue work done. The soreness is similar to exercise soreness and will usually subside in a day. Movement and proper stretching is helpful in maintaining the flexibility and muscular freedom that you will experience after your massage.
